It's been a long while... 2 months in fact. Shame! The brief run down:
December- Adventures in Zanzibar for Christmas.
January- Malaria that knocked me out for a bit.
January/February- Traveling for meetings for World Relief.
And last Friday, with the help of dear Karri, I hosted my first ever Burundi girls' slumber party! It was fabulous! I cooked up 5 pizzas and made a caesar salad for dinner. The girls (12 of them, in total... ages 11-18) chowed down, whilst arguing vehemently if Usher or Chris Brown is the better dancer. It was serious! Laughing, but up in each others' face with fingers wagging and all! Wow! Who knew?!
After, we brought out all the necessities of a true girls' slumber party... masks, nails, foot soaks, "big screen" movies with a projector, and concluded the night (well, for Karri and I ) with a brief and hilarious dance party. We crashed, but the girls stayed up talking and laughing... some until 6:30am.

We had a late and sleepy cinnmon roll and fruit salad breakfast.
The girls went home to naps. I stayed home and began to clean the chaos.
For me, it was a perfect night. I set out with simple objectives... for the girls to come, have a good time, and connect with one another. All hopes were met, and now, for the first time ever, I am sporting black toe nails... :)

It is great to see you are back to blogging and great to hear about the mentoring you are doing. Way to be!
P.S. My vote for Usher ;-)

What a great idea! Your pictures really help capture the event...I'm so glad that you have the motivation and gumption for these big events. :)
Trina, you are so good at making "fun" happen. What a joy for those gals to have someone to look up to who is loving, fun, deep, personable, sweet, in love with Jesus, interested in others in a huge way... the list goes on. I'm thankful for you - you're a blessing Trina!
